Module Goals: At the conclusion of this module the learner will be able to:

1. Construct a teaching plan for a clinical day

2. Develop teaching strategies

 

The purpose of this module is to provide the novice clinical instructor with both a guide for planning the clinical day and a toolbox of strategies for teaching students in the clinical area.

 

Learning outcomes: At the conclusion of this module the learner(s) will be able to:

 

1. Describe two specific elements of the clinical classroom environment that impact teaching and learning.

2. Select two methods for making student assignments.

3. Give one method for conducting a pre & post conference

4. Employ one method regarding how students will demonstrate reflective practice

5. Discuss two methods of maintaining patient safety during instruction.

6. Describe one method to encourage students to demonstrate higher-level thinking.

7. Devise two teaching strategies to insure nursing students practice safely based on Quality Safety Education for Nursing (QSEN) standards.
