The purpose of this module is:

To orient the novice clinical instructor to the clinical instructor preparation course

To provide foundational information specific to academic clinical teaching
Learning outcomes: On successful completion of this module, novice clinical nursing instructors will be able to:

Relate two provisions of the Code of Ethics for Nurses to clinical teaching.

Describe one instructor behavior that will build trust in relationships with students.

Connect one task statement of the National League for Nursing (NLN) core competencies to the nursing instructor role.

Associate the Institute of Medicine (IOM) core competencies to clinical teaching.
-
Cite one IOM core competency that does not overlap the Quality Safety Education for Nursing (QSEN) core competencies.

Recognize two behaviors consistent with incivility in self and others.

Employ 100% of key behaviors consistent with Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) standards to ensure students rights to privacy are maintained.
